The Noted Scholar is a pen name — deliberately. The persona stays anonymous so
the work has to stand on its own: no borrowed credentials, no institutional
halo, just documented testing you can check against your own experience.
What you can hold us to is concrete:
- We live in these tools daily. The person behind this site
reads and researches with AI assistance every day, not as a content angle —
which is precisely why the failure modes in our reviews are ones we've hit
ourselves.
- Every tool is tested on real papers. Reviews come from at
least two weeks of use on genuine tasks — real literature searches, a real
and growing reference library, real long-form drafts — never from a demo
account and a pricing page.
- No sponsorships. We take no payment for coverage and no
sponsored posts. Nobody buys a verdict here.
- Every affiliate link is marked. Some reviews contain
affiliate links, disclosed at the top of the article and in the
disclosure policy. Plenty of our
recommendations — Zotero, Obsidian, NotebookLM — earn us nothing at all.
